This is a record of my research into the LONG family who migrated to South Africa in 1820 (as part of a British Government immigration scheme).

Jeremiah Long, his wife Ann and two sons James Dorrington and Jeremiah embarked at Liverpool on the Stentor on 24 December 1819. They only sailed on 13 January 1820 and reached Table Bay on 19 April. As the ship's charter expired at this port, they were transshipped to HM Store Ship Weymouth for the voyage to Algoa Bay, which they reached on either 15 or 22 May. They were part of George Smith's Party.
